#BAUniC2016 vote rewards were a human-to-human compromise for the quality and completeness of the presented projects.

Expected dates:

Projects need to be presented before 20171109 (9 November 2017), the sooner the better, so the audience and jury gets acquainted in time, and the necessary tests are carried out.

Debates are expected between 20171123 and 20171126 (the weekend before declaring the winners, 23 to 26 November 2017).

Winners will be declared on 20171127 (last Monday of November 2017).

Human to human interaction takes precedence over robotic following of the plans. Dates may change, but the people caring will be the people engaged with the projects.

Should votes per USD reflect the price change between bitcoin and USD since #BAUniC2016?

Vote/Coin exchange for #BAUniC2017 was planned at doubling of #BAUniC2016. Mindlessly (and efficiently) doubling is fine with a single currency, but given the current Bitcoin to USD ratio, maybe we should change.

This is not a vital issue right now, since we are not in the conditions to accept USD donations, but we are in the process of preparing a committee for this (we got the background workers ready to deal with legal issues and coins, but not the public face for a #BAUniC-Prime-Pyramid based on USD or Euro) and it will become an issue soon enough.

Awaiting brainstorming and debating ideas and proposals.

Current proposals:
* Stay with Bitcoin only, stay independent open source.
* Stay with fixed price and mindlessly doubling rewards, for all currencies used, regardless of market fluctuations.
* Adjust the vote rewards for USD in comparison to Bitcoin when we prepare the USD treasurer group, and keep it throughout 2017 to adjust it again next year.

2016, #BAUniC year in!

Raising from the ashes of the Fractal Universe Challenge (chosen for its memorable acronym, later changed because a rose may not smell as good with a different name), #BAUniC has grown during 2016 from an idea to a skeleton structure of various decentralized initiatives, ideas and parallel projects. Work in progress (like all works), but, working, functional!

Think globally, act interneglobalocaly... this is how #BAUniC started, aided by the zero cost economy, and trying to ignore the costs of advertising.

An idea about physics needed extra minds to brainstorm it and/or turn it into code ideas on how the universe works.

Why not expand this for a global audience and for anyone who needs such help?

Why not prepare the environment to encourage it?

And, #BAUniC was born!

We are celebrating victories AND failures!

People not liking the change-in-perspective-over-what-the-base-of-reality-could-be, still don't like it. They still disrupt our message on comments and threads. To some this may look like a failure. We cheer it too, along a lot of enthusiasm radiated back from most of the minds exposed to #BAUniC. Open Source Conference Albania for 2016 in May was one such enthusiast place, much more so than Innovation Week 2016 on the next day. True, we are trying to bring forth the revolution in a non-profit fashion, and startups need the money, but we also are constructing #BAUniC decentralized at its core, therefore any side project that could potentially provide profits for the entrepreneurs can easily be attached along as a side project, independent but related.

One such side project is the #BAUniC:movie promotion path. It happens in a parallel universe where 'the other' won the US presidential election, #BREXIT did not exit, and Bud Spencer still died.

We have to admit we were not prepared for Trump to win, or rather, we were prepared for his victory in the #BAUniC Fictioniverse. This messed up our scripts.

To be honest, we do not wish to put Clinton as the winner in the Fictioniverse, and will go for our sweetheart Bernie BlueBird Sanders as the winner. Too bad he did not win the real (or is that 'real'?) world. Jill Stein, we wish we could have done more towards your 5% in real life, but your soul will be pushed along with #BAUniC and the movie.

#BAUniC:movie is in scripting and resource-gathering stage, preparing scenes and their components. More on it can be found on baunic-movie.blogspot.com

Because of the need for exposure of in-world concepts, the movie is at least a trilogy. We are preparing for a TV Series of StarTrek level, but may need to cut down. A single movie will not make it to introduce the concepts AND a sufficiently intriguing storyline all at once, therefore we are not even trying.

Other fronts being created and developed during 2016 have been social media presence. We have a LinkedIn account connected to many important figures (linkedin.com/in/baunic), a quiet bird tweeting only when needed (@Virtua1universe), a retransmit/retweet 'army' of dormant agents waiting to be triggered for a viral attempt (called appropriately '#BAUniC RETwarmy', facebook.com/groups/baunicretwarmy), a presence in SecondLife and independent expansion there (such as a theme park, a storyline to follow for roleplayers, and possibly the recording ground for some of the movie needs. We still need social presence in other social sites (including youtube), and in other virtual reality sites (for example Open Grid). We need to embellish the appearance, graphics and icons, explanations on the core concepts of the competition and the maths at the base of potential universes we are trying to explore, and of course better promotion and distribution of information. Something to keep improving upon next year.

Our social media presence works on few-updates mode. We are not here to entertain or appeal to the broad spectrum of human interests for the sake of numbers. We are not news sources or headlines dispatchers. You come here because you want to hear what we have to say. The topics are not easy, though we are trying to shift them to easier. They will be hard, science, philosophy and even fiction. We can and occasionally do make easy digest versions, but, quality concerns aside, these are wasted efforts for the audience. We have the message, we need the ears/eyes to transmit it to.

It goes without saying that the meat of #BAUniC are the competing teams. Given the effort put into recruitment, we are happy with the participation, even though with zero coins in the pot to distribute to winners. We would have been happier if more participants went from paper/presentation level of work-in-progress to a fully completed idea-to-render project, but as long as we are pushing the wheel of history towards the mathematical universe, we get what we can. Sure enough the world expects papers on how the cosmos works instead of fully working fractal rendering programs. There are plenty of places providing to such need. There is not enough #BAUniC is filling in, why we are filling in there.

We also need to find a brave Muslim to come forth as public presence for this piece of promotional idea: 

Islam for progress, not terror: "English is the language of humans, let's get over it and use this tool of global connectivity, but the universe is still written using algebra, with the original Arabic symbols."

Despite being widely cheered, we have found it difficult to get a practicing Muslim to come forth publicly. The main reason is the disturbed religious climate in the world today, but #BAUniC being composed of people from various religions/genders/orientations did not help. We are not giving up on this, though. There are things more important than silly distinguishers such as what one has between their legs and how that is used.

If you find 'Islam for progress, not terror' a good idea, if you wish to promote Islam as a true religion of peace instead of the one that burns libraries and ruins statues, well, we need a few extra eyes here.

#BAUniC is on the level of 'The world is my playground', reaching-for and getting what we need, and we are proud of what we have achieved so far, but not as proud as to approach superstars of these concepts such as Greg Egan or Max Tegmark. Most likely we would be welcomed, but, if one can be shy approaching somebody else, it is not approaching Elon Musk we are shy about...

Next steps: Fanclubs for Max Tegmark and Greg Egan. The world needs those. The shared mathematical universe needs those. #BAUniC needs those.

Various meme and hashtag ideas are being planned for the future, some less orthodox than others. Consider yourselves lucky *evil grin* we are not (yet) in need of those plans.

The viral campaign was planned to start in sync with the launch of "No Man's Sky" and augment the momentum of each. Since NMS launched very successfully, any more of it would be detrimental while providing very little more to #BAUniC, we postponed triggering mass engagement, while the structure grows, the movement gains momentum, and the potential impact becomes more meaningful.

For the funding of the winners, #BAUniC relies on decentralized pyramids of funds, designed to be 'never ending' in their giving (albeit depleting at different rates). After consideration, we simplified the rules of the original pyramid idea, and called it #BAUniC-Prime-Pyramid, to distinguish it from other versions (such as the #BAUniC-Sharp-Pyramid, which gives sharply half of the funds to the winner of best formula, and sharply halving the vote value, as opposed to more self-sustainability and various prizes of the Prime-Pyramid). An expanded and updated explanation about pyramids in various platforms that handle currency will be posted and links updated as necessary.

#BAUniC2016 was the competitive event finalizing the year's efforts of the competitive teams participating in #BAUniC

From the registered teams, only one had a complete project that produced visible output. That team was "PES_Golly", using the "Golly" program for 'Game Of Life' clones (pesgolly.blogspot.com/2016/04/pes-golly-for-baunic.html). Better projects were presented, but unable to complete the requirement of a program able to be adjusted and tested independently. These projects are "Vibrational World" by Albert Thomagjini, (linkedin.com/pulse/vibrational-world-albert-thomagjini) and "Quantum Asymmetry between time and space" by Joan A. Vaccaro, (rspa.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/472/2185/20150670)

"PES_Golly" won #BAUniC2016 in the 'Best Tutorial' category, and the works in progress got an honourable mention and encouragement votes. "GoTeamAlbania" and "TheAlien5cientists" will apply for #BAUniC2017.

Given how this topic deals with uncomfortable truths about the nature of the universe, the exploration of which may be seen as a sin in many religions, but shunned even by atheists or various levels of ignorants, PES_Golly has decided to remain anonymous. Given there was no money prize for #BAUniC2016 this posed no problem. Anonymity is a precious power, but when money is involved it may not look as good. So far it has not been a problem. We are open to suggestions and brainstorming over this problem.

To be fair, PES_Golly is related to the main #BAUniC team. Collaboration efforts work like that, and we hope to have set the example right for future competitors to have the environment and working examples ready.

#BAUniC2016 offered symbolic votes to encourage participation independently of the money rewards. These votes are valid for the #BAUniC-Prime-Pyramid (the committee safeguarded fund geared towards self-sustainability, as compared to the #BAUniC-Sharp-Pyramid).
As winner of 'Best Tutorial', PES_Golly was rewarded with 17 votes to use in influencing the outcome of the next competition. For their effort and participation, Vibrational-World and Quantum_assymetry got rewarded with 3 votes each. To ease the imagination, #BAUniC2017 sees 0.000488 bitcoins and 0.25 USD exchanged for 1 vote.

Disclaimer: PES_Golly are related to the #BAUniC team by various ties of friendship and collaboration on aspects of organization, technical expertise, promo and the building of the #BAUniC-Fictioniverse. Nothing to apologize about it. If you know a better way to grow a small project from obscurity to global/viral/perpetual, suggestions are welcomed. Till then, refusing small 'show-the-way' projects, or big actual contenders, because they happen to be close to the cluster that is brainstorming (and zero-cost-economy building) #BAUniC into existence, is unfair, waste of potential, and frankly (IMO) stupid. We hope future projects will be complete and from a more diverse source of talents.

#BAUniC is a skeleton structure of decentralized fund and knowledge gathering, aiming to inspire this generation's computer-aided collective imagination to improve upon the technical and language tools used to express ideas, helping preparing a smoother learning curve mediating easy transition from idea to rendering.
Hunches, in organic brains and intermediary data stages, passing through different programs and operators, through students and experts of different fields, fail after a proper chance to succeed and adequate attempts at improvement.
Else, they win, and bring forth the revolution in physics understanding!

It literally cannot be stopped (not more than technology itself can be stopped)!

Capitalists will have to use the formulas found because it deeply affects their bottom line. If they don't, their competitors will. If they do, they will be using their production apparatus to actually build the age of abundance claimed by #BAUniC. Change will come so fast that keeping up with the latest gadget will become a burden and unnecessary, changing mentalities on consumerism and what it means to search for happiness. Otherwise, with people and the economy actually keeping up, the benefits approach science-fiction level. Aliens you will have to see when we get there, but touchable returns would be new materials, new computing and communication methods, hybrid biology and micromachines just to name a few.

A world where techies build, promoters promote, organizers organize, visually oriented people explain their imagination to formula oriented people, then to code oriented people,,, this is no future-science-fiction is present-science-reality and a good model to use beyond exploring the fractal base of reality.

Zero cost economy, our civilization preparing for it, and must do it!

If capitalism wishes to bring some of its most beneficial genes (characteristics) on the new world order, its proponents needs to accept, adapt and selectively breed those mutually beneficial genes of capitalism to adapt with the zero cost economy. Robotics and A.I. are already pushing. The formula of the universe will push along.

The alternatives, regress, or still usurpation of property (physical or intellectual), are not worlds we will be concerned about. Debating about it, preparing the ground for a smooth transition, maybe. Giving in to unreasonable demands under potentially false premises, no. Chaos ensuing either way, at least we will try for the progressive chaos where the formula of the universe is usable by humans.

Global time starts at year zero, 24 hours, 12 months, synched with the sun.
English is the language of our aspiring level 1 civilization.
Mathematics is the language of the universe, and we are writing it using original Arabic numbers.
Organics and synthetics interact with each other in a combination of the above.
Now, constructive criticism aside, getting over what troubles us on issues about protocols and focus on the substance, is the right path to go, assuming we wish global collaboration and progress instead of war and terror.

Let our common objective unite us, and our differences fade into insignificance!

Do we want to make the world a better place? (answering 'no' gets you out of here, yes continues)
Is progress and abundance the path to it or do we need to force people to struggle for existence and advance our civilization along? (progress or struggle open debates; regress gets you out of here)
Does 2+2 exist? ('yes', you continue here; 'no', you go elsewhere)

If we are given the opportunities to progress without worry about survival and with immediate access to all human knowledge, we accept that this fast progress will lead to stagnation of some humans. We are not concerned with them. We are concerned that the remaining pool of creativity can go on exploring beyond frozen fractals into the 'shared math hypothesis' with as many resources from a bored civilization as they can.

#BAUniC 2016

#BAUniC2016 is the competitive event finalizing the year's efforts of participating teams.

As of 20160720, simplified rules (called #BAUniC-Prime-Pyramid):
Each year winners will get 1/3 of the pot, or an agreed maximum lower than that (10 bitcoins and 5000 USD for first prize winners, increasing if the total prizes can be covered with less than 1/10 of the pot. We will get less than the cut kickstarter gets for their 'just being there'.) 

Each year votes will half in price regardless of use.
(20170128 update: this was the expectation without the wild exchange rate disruption of bitcoin to USD in 2017. See #BAUniC2017 for updated vote rates)
2016 will see 1 bitcoin : 1024 votes, and 1 USD : 2 votes.

2017 will see 1 bitcoin : 2048 votes, and 1 USD : 4 votes.

Damn straight we want this to grow into pyramid scheme, and become a self-sustaining structure with replaceable human and technological components, like Nobel Prizes. But it won't give back money. Mostly endorphin rewards, and the sense of building something unstoppable that will change the world.

Projects presented need to be consistent instructions on how to reproduce the results, including instruction set (x86, ARM...), Operating System (Windows, Linux...), program (and where to get the program), and steps to get from the seeding code to the rendered results.

Final date to present projects will be November 13, and voting will end on November 25, 2016, allowing adequate time for judges to test them and reach their conclusions.

Participating teams will be rewarded with symbolic votes, 7 votes for their main project in the chosen category, +5 votes for a tutorial to building a similar project (not just steps to reproducing the results), and +3, +2, +1 votes for participating in other categories.

Finalists will also have a symbolic vote gift, +13 votes for making it to the finals of their chosen category, +11 votes for the tutorial finals, and respectively +6, +4 and +2 if they make it to more categories.

Winners will also have a symbolic vote gift, +19 votes for winning their chosen category, +17 if they win the tutorial race, and +9, +6, +3 if they win more categories.

These votes will be dispensed after the competition event and be valid from that moment on, not before.
