Stephen Wolfram proposes a working model, complete with rules and software to render it, of how all quantum-limited universes may work, especially our cosmos, which is inspiration to this search.
From very simple deterministic rules applied myriads of times on themselves, space, time, causality, lightspeed, force, inertia, particles, black holes, and even dark matter, emerge as concise ways of interpretation of the results. They relate to each other in the way we are know and measure. The known laws of physics just 'pop out' of the hypergraphs that the rules form when combined. All known equations of how the universe works can be put into this framework. Conceptually this is a partial formula of the universe, all of the universe, in which we can start looking for our particular physics and our particular causality history.
